I am a recent Counseling Psychology graduate from Teachers College, Columbia University, and worked with Dr. Marie L. Miville. I have received specialized training through my doctoral program's concentration in Bilingual Latinx Mental Health as well as specialized monolingual bilingual and bicultural clinical provisions from the PASEO Mental Health program, which is a global mental health organization focused on increasing access to mental health services for the Latine population in the U.S. as well as in low-resource communities in Latin America..
My research uses a multicultural framework to examine the impact of trauma on the mental health of marginalized communities, with a particular focus on Latina, Black, and Indigenous women of color. This work has resulted in publications, presentations at international conferences, and invited talks at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As a cognitive-behavioral clinician, I specialize in customizing treatment plans for patients with trauma histories and a readiness for change, beginning with mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness, setting clear treatment goals, establishing a safe therapeutic alliance, exploring the interplay between thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations to identify behavioral patterns, and incorporating adaptive skills training with a focus on grounding techniques for managing somatic responses in English and Spanish.
